Car Battery Cleaner: Remove Corrosion And Improve Battery Performance
Car batteries tend to oxide faster when it is not driven regularly. This in turn will cause corrosion around the car battery terminals and silent killer will eventually kill your battery completely. Fortunately, there's an easy way to remove the corrosion so that you don't have to waste money buying a new battery.
How do you clean the corrosion off a car battery? Believe it or not, all you need is some baking soda and water which you can find easily in your kitchen. To make the cleaning easier for you, you should get a wire brush as your car battery cleaner.
Removing The Corrosion Around The Terminals
First of all, take a small cup and put 4 teaspoons of baking soda in it. Stir and mix well then pour it slowly over the corroded terminals until it stops fizzing and bubbling. After that, simply rinse with plain clean water.
Alternatively, you can clean the terminals by brushing it with wire brush and flush the outside with fresh water. Once that is done, you want to coat the connectors or posts and cable ends with vaseline or grease to stop or slow down further corrosion.
In short, make sure you protect yourself by wearing the appropriate gloves and eye protection gear before attempting to clean your car battery. The battery posts should also be clean and free from corrosion or grease. Also make sure that top of the battery is clean and dry too before you reconnect the terminals and close your car bonnet.
